Technology Outlook for 2020

Business outcome based services accelerated by cloud and automation will be in much demand by CIOs in 2020 By Jayanth Gojer, CEO, ASPL Info Services

Digital Transformation is the new normal for organisations across the globe and in India. New-age technologies like AI, HCI, IOT, UEBA, Data analytics, SOC services have matured leading to increase in their adoption rate. The year of 2020 is hinged at an inflection point with business and digital transformation initiatives becoming an all-important component of IT blueprint for organisations across verticals and enterprise size.

India too is witnessing a colossal trend to be early adopters of latest enterprise technologies and digital initiatives and leap frog ahead of many matured countries. The new world of digital savvy consumers will see key trends across India’s enterprise market pivot around secure Cloud, RPA (Robotic Process Automation) and AI enabled ESM (Enterprise Service Management) in 2020.

Business agility or speed from IT is now the most important trigger to consider cloud – as opposed to cost and access to new functionality. This has accelerated the need for a more consistent and standardized availability of automated cloud resources to enable developers and line-of-business (LOB) teams to execute at speed and cost.

Digital Transformation across C-Suite

Digital Transformation across businesses is happening both internally – within the organisation and externally – with their customers. This leads to an expanded role for the CIO, alignment of IT and LOB teams, implementing digital solutions and tools, hiring the best technical skillsets, and providing best customer experience to users.

The CIO’s role is not focused only on technology anymore – but his KRAs involve business outcomes and profitability. Though separate budgets for technology initiatives emerge out of LOBs but CIOs are still an active part of decision making in all areas of an organisation. Technology OEMs and solution providers are often interacting with CDO, CMO, CEO and LOBs at their customer than meet only CIOs in the past.

Companies are looking for digital transformation of their businesses to acquire hyper speed, ability to grow in hyper scale, and become hyper connected. As secure cloud services become core to enterprises, the IT environments will become highly complex with multiple public cloud, private cloud, hybrid cloud with need for traditional systems to be interconnected, integrated, and collectively managed.

New Expectations from CIOs

With digital technologies becoming the fulcrum of an organisation’s IT and business strategy, CIOs have new set of expectations from the IT solution and services providers. They are seeking technologies that can help them optimise cost (of buying and running technology process) with automation.

IT leaders want faster ‘time to market’ products and solutions that are error free and enable faster turn-around operations. Another emerging trend especially in the mid-market is total outsourcing of technology solutions due to lack of technical skillsets at their end for easy manageability and overall cost savings.

Future Forward 2020

The focus for 2020 and beyond has shifted to cloud and automation as Indian companies opt for cost-optimised driven offerings across enterprise, mid-market and SMB. With the businesses drifting towards opex and subscription models, service offerings (across new-age technologies) built based on business outcomes will gain more momentum in 2020. ‘Everything as a service’ to enterprise customers will become a reality.

It is a fantastic time to spearhead the value proposition in the IT services marketplace through ‘ process driven’ work culture, customised (as per customer needs) solutions and easy accessibility(to our team at all times). Technical skilled people and industry certified resources including senior level continues to our USP versus the competing IT solution providers besides pushing towards business outcome based services.

In addition to offerings for enterprise class organisations, we are also putting together a host of services to address the needs of the ‘mid-market and SMB’ segment by offering enterprise grade services at affordable prices. We leverage strategic partnerships with leading security vendors’ solutions in AI, Automation and SIEM space as strong alliances with technology OEMs are key to run a successful business model.

Expansion to other geos outside India is a priority this year as we extend solutions and services capabilities around cognitive automation processes. An automation layer on traditional services to improve efficiency and lower TCO would be a boon for today’s digitally native organisations.

Digital Transformation is here to stay for the long haul as we step into a decade of innovation and growth.
